The waterproof shower base


These sticks (screeds) were scribed to the floor such that the top surface was level (and square to the walls). The rubber "pan" area was then filled with "flex-bond" high strength motar and spread from the screeds to the drain for an even, deliberate pitch. "Dura-rock" reinforced cement board was imbeeded in the fresh motar for both additional strength and a perfectly regular surface for tiling.
